The headdress known as Kokochnik, with a shape for each region, is a constituent element of Russian costuming. Although Peter the Great (1675 – 1725) restricted woman of the Court to prioritise low-cut European dresses, this headdress returns to its glory zith Catherine II (1729 – 1796) of German descent and of pseudo-Russianity conviction. The Kokcochnik is thus no longer worn by lower or bourgeois classes but rather develops in the Court and in balls.
