Boléro, costume piece of the magician Yanco (1928 – 1990, Jean-Louis Conte, a.k.a.)

Yanko is considered on of the biggest French magicians of the 20th century. He was able to renew the repertoire of illusionary and adapt magic to the evolution of performance arts. Born and raised in Toulouse, Jean-Louis Conte was interested early on by cinematic performances and the circus. He soon would join the Medrano Circus in Paris under the stage name Yanco. He would learn embroidery and make his own richly decorated costumes, such as this one, in a style fit for the Hindu Prince, a life-long character he would portray.
