Párta (unmarried ladies’ headdress)

The semi-circular base of the headdress has rings on both ends, where ribbons to tie it was inserted. The linen base covered with golden fan-patterned lace mad of metal thread and ribbons. Thrill is added to the surface by filigree overlays sewn on it, made of vines shaped like “S” framing a rosette. Almandine-beaded “en tremblant” elements complete them. This type of headdress was part of the attire of maidens from wealthy families. They wore fancy pieces such as this one (decorated with precious metals, pearls) usually at festive occasions.
