March 15th is a national holiday in Hungary, which commemorates the beginning of the 1848-49 revolution and freedom fight. According to the Hungarian tradition, the leaders of the radical youth Sándor Petőfi and Mór Jókai got cockades from their loved ones. It was pinned, and is even nowadays on the heart side of the jacket or the coat.
Traditionally the Hungarian cockade has the form of a circular national tricolour ribbon with small straps. This item with beads represents the importance and memory of the freedom fights in 1848.
